BREATHING CULTURE

-

ANNABELLE T. LAXAMANA

To lead is to inculcate values that will make them to become self-motivating, productive and value-oriented.

As I am pondering with the things that we can nurture our lives with, I have realized one thing – the values that we uphold are the reflections of who we are. What we value is reflected in the lives that we live. Things like, how we speak, what we speak, what we speak and how we go along with the others are images of who we are really are.

As leaders in school, if we wanted to influence others to do well, we must know how to do it on our own. We must make the changes that re necessary to be the person we want to be. Possessing the Christ-like attributes like humility, compassion, generosity and trust will make us encourage our followers do what is expected from them. Let us be delicate and gentle with our dealings with them. If we want our teachers do their tasks religiously, let us take care of them, inspire them and make them realize that they have significant roles in everyone’s life.

Value-based leadership needs to be self-reflective. The more self-reflective we are, the easier it is to make choices that are in line with our values, with the awareness of the full impact of our decisions. — oOo—
