CAN HOLD WATER

-

MARY GRACE S. DOMINGO

A quote which capture my mind and makes my heart thinks about a million time. It goes and I quote, “It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. “This brilliant quote of Albert Einstein conveys about the beauty of science and the goodness it can bring to humanity.

With boundless things that a Science can offer, it is wise to think that science science without humanity indeed it’s one of the seven sins. Science for the people revolves around the idea of applying the body of knowledge, the methodological practices, and the scientific community in having socially equitable global society.

First dealing with body of knowledge… . Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less. Having concrete or shall I shall clear picture of all things around us it can inform us about the nature of environment and challenges attach to it.

Among these challenges include lack of essential resources, excess consumption, pollution and waste which highly require careful study to make positive social and environmental changes.

Second is the methodological practices… interconnection, interfacing and collaboration would the needed practices and behaviors in order to meet and destination we want to reach. It is never a one-way ticket but it takes two a Tango which means everybody should take steps forward so that we will not be left in a fast changing society

We need to remain grounded in local environmental and human conditions in order for us to arrive to sound and potential remedies or solution. In doing so it can arrest all the would be problems of the locality.

Third, building Scientific community… it takes a whole village in making community. If it will be only done by one group to my mind it cannot hold water. It will not make sense at all. To embrace a environmental concerns.

To have scientific community is like coming up with sustainable and appropriate scientific and technological means of empowering individual household and communities to live more sustainably. It is also a way of mobilizing people to become active in agitating science.

Let us focus our attention, efforts and time in communicating scientific ideas to the public in the hopes of galvanizing support for science. Indeed Science is not merely for the people but by the people as well.
