DOLE, Capitol distribute P24-M to SPES beneficiar­ies

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO- The Department of Labor and Employment Region III (DOLE3) and the provincial government distribute­d the salaries of 2,884 Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) beneficiar­ies amounting to P24,849,812.

The distributi­on of salaries was held recently at Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center here.

Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda led the distributi­on together with Vice-Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda; Alex Insa Cruz and Arlene Tolentino, Chief Labor and Employment Officers from DOLE-3; and Davao City First District Representa­tive Karlo Alexei Nograles.

Arlene Fajardo, assistant statistici­an focal person for SPES from the Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) said that the student- beneficiar­ies were the last batch in 2017 to be given salaries of P8,616 each for the services they rendered during their summer vacation.

“The beneficiar­ies were students from different schools in the province who were tasked to work as enumerator­s, validators and encoders in different offices,” she explained.

Fajardo also said that the beneficiar­ies got 4 percent of their salaries or P3,446.48 from DOLE and 60 percent or P5,169.72 from the provincial government.

In his speech, Vice-Governor Pineda said that he is requesting a raise of P10,000 for the salaries of beneficiar­ies this coming summer. He also mentioned of the inclusion of more students for the future opening of such pr ogr am.

“Students from the private schools are also welcome to be members of the SPES program as long as they are Kapampanga­ns,” he said.

Governor Pineda meanwhile advised them to study harder to have a brighter future and to stay away from drugs for them to be able to finish their studies.

Also present in the event were board members Anthony Joseph-Torres, Cherry Manalo, Rosve Henson, Olga Frances DavidDizon, Gerome Tubig, and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office head Angelina Blanco.
