Pampanga group launches relief drive for Mayon evacuees

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— The Angeles City Clark Balibago Lions Club (ACCBLC) recently launched Magtarabangan: a relief drive for evacuees in the Bicol regi on.

This, as Mayon Volcano in Albay province continues to pose a grave threat as it still erupts multiple times daily.

At present, nearly 80,000 residents within the volcano’s permanent danger zone have been evacuated to nearby schools and towns. As Mayon still shows no sign of ceasing volcanic activity, it is seen that the displaced residents will remain in their evacuation centers for the next three months.

To ensure sustained calamity response in the face of this continuing crisis, the ACCBLC seeks to mobilize aid in Pampanga by opening up drop— off points for donations. Donations collected shall be distributed in the province of Albay by counterpart clubs of Lions District 301— A2.

Urgent items needed include hygiene items, mosquito nets, mats and bl anket s.

The public may donate in kind at the following partner locations of ACCBLC at Escalade Inc. in Mabalacat City or at BJ Mini Mart in Angeles City.

“Kapampangans know the experience of going through such a calamity. It is just right that we answer the call of duty to serve our underprivileged and less— fortunate in Albay at their time of great need,”ACCBLC President Sol Flores, Jr. stressed.

The ACCBLC is one of 45,000 Lions Clubs worldwide and the Lions club with jurisdiction over Angeles City and Clark Freeport in Mabalacat. Since 1971, the group has made a strong commitment to community service as Pampanga’s premier civic— service club. The association motto is “We Serve.”
