THE EFFECT OF INSTRUCTIONAL SUPERVISION OF MASTER TEACHER TO ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE OF TEACHERS: A REFLECTION
It is evident that collaboration significantly contributes to the success of an organization. In the educational system, teachers are being supervised by the school leaders for improvement of teaching performance. One of the school leaders in the Department of Education is the Master Teacher.
In our school, I am Master Teacher in Araling Panlipunan department. There are existing practices in our school in terms of executing my duties and responsibilities. It is mandated on my part to share my expertise to supervise the instructional performance of teachers. With this, a schedule of classroom observation among the teachers in our department was done to monitor the teaching strategies, approaches and classroom management of the teachers. Furthermore, as master teacher, it is my vital role to assist teachers in terms of acquiring innovative teaching model to improve the academic performance of the learners. This will be possible through conducting an action research that will address the learning gap among the learners.
Instructional supervision is one of the key areas of the master teachers in their Individual Performance Commitment and Review Form (IPCRF) which is being accomplished within the school year. Instructional support aims to develop the creativity of the teachers in creating a productive learners of the 21st century. It is also necessary for the master teacher to give suggestions and comments during the post conference in monthly classroom observation. This will inform the teachers about the key areas which are needed to be improved. In addition, teachers are given more opportunities to recognize teaching strengths and weaknesses. I believe that the sustainable quality practices of master teachers in implementing the instructional supervision will lead into successful organizational performance in every institution. Teachers could become innovator that creates diverse learning opportunities that is suited to the learning style of each student. Master Teachers can build strong collaboration with the subordinates in achieving their common learning goal. That is to produce quality education in this millennial curriculum. With this, master teachers are encouraged to be committed in their roles and responsibilities for them to attain their educational mission and vision.
