Elma Muros Posadas, Isidro del Prado, Lydia DeVega, Ryan Papa, Eugene Torre, Wesley So is there still more? The recent debacle in ASEAN 2015 called on the attention of our sports official, politicians regarding on the sad state of our Sports performance as a 5th place in the ASEAN.

However, the promotion of physical fitness consciousness and mass interest in sports alongside with national integration and cultural goals was the main thrust in sports program.

The principle of Sports for student was a fundamental rights for all. That the right is not different in principle from the right to adequate food, shelter, and medical care. The Ministry expanded in physical education and sports development program through its integrated program of physical fitness and amateur sports to include all children and youth in and out of school.

They had traditional games and cultural revival. Specialized sports, particularly a special Barangay sports/ Popular local sports. The integrated physical education and sports development program in all schools in the Philippines shall be undertaken by the Department of Education in accordance with the following guiding principle:

(1) The goal of physical education is to instill in young citizens a proper appreciation of the importance of physical development hand in hand with the mental development in individual and social activities;

(2) The sports and other activities in a physical education program should provide opportunities for the athletic development of children and youth who have the competitive spirit as well as grace, coordination,stamina, and strength

(3) A well –rounded physical education program must be addressed to physical growth, social training, and personal, discipline for all pupils and students, as well as superior athletic achievements for those who are psychologically inclined and physically gifted; and

(4) An integrated program for sports development in the schools requires effective organizational planning and administration with provisions for adequate training facilities and sustained stable programs.

The DepEd has the grass-root source of gladiators of sports that need to be nurture, support and the rest is history for our first gold medal in Olympics.
