MABALACAT CITY — A group of residents in Barangay Marcos Village, who are mostly Aetas, asked village officials to construct a drainage system in their sitio to prevent flashfloods during heavy rains.

In their formal complaint sent to the city council, the residents of Sitio Bilad, which is situated at the Sacobia Bridge, said their road turns into a creek when the rain f al l s.

They attributed the problem to the absence of road pavement and a drainage system.

Councilor Oscar Aurelio, chairman

of

the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Barangay Affairs, yesterday facilitated a committee hearing with the complainants to address the issue.

During the hearing, Marcos Village Chairman Jose Jerry Dacio disclosed that there is already a program of work for the road concreting which include lateral canals.

The project will be implemented by the office of Pampanga First District Congressman Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin, Jr., according to Dacio.

With this, Aurelio asked the complainants to wait and give the barangay officials time to start the project.

Dacio assured the residents that the project will start before the election ban.

Aurelio has given the barangay chairman until April 14 to start the project.
