CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) yesterday announced the closure of Caduang Tete bridge in Barangay Caduang Tete in Masantol to public traffic starting April 16.

DPWH-Pampanga 1st District Engineering Office (DEO) head Engineer Willian Bustos told Sun.Star Pampanga that the closure is to give way to the construction of a new bridge structure.

Bustos said that a P49-million ,76 linear-meter bridge will replace the old bridge structure. The locally funded project, with funds sourced from general appropriations, is expected to be finished in four months and will be opened to the public in September this year.

The DPWH, Bustos said, had finished consultation with the Mayor Annette Balgan of Macabebe and stakeholders in the town on the impending bridge closure. The bridge is a major facility that links several communities in Macabebe.

Bustos added that for the meantime, the portion of the Apalit-Arayat-Masantol setback levee will be used as alternate route for vehicles using the said bridge.

“We are urging the cooperation of local stakeholders to make the setback levee free from obstruction of parked cars and others. This is to ensure that the flow of traffic in the alternate route will be easy and free flowing,” Bustos added.
