AC gov’t, DICT launch new Tech4Ed center
ANGELES CITY- The local government through the Angeles City Library and Information Center (ACLIC) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) –Luzon Cluster 2 launched on Friday this city’s new Tech4Ed facility.
The Tech4Ed center was formally opened to the public through a ceremony led by Engineer Pablito Dela Peña representing DICT-Luzon Cluster 2 Pampanga, and City Librarian Mila Narsing.
Tech4Ed, which stands for “Technology for Education, to gain Employment, train Entrepreneurs towards Economic Development”, aims to extend free ICT services to more Filipinos facilitating equal opportunity of learning and employment.
Three desktop computers and printer units were installed at the ACLIC which are now operational and open for public use.
According to DICT, the center features an online one-stop shop system for the convenient processing of government documents such as SSS, NSO Birth Certificate and others through the eGovserv.
The ICT-enabled facility also allows access to educational and other instructional contents with the eEduskills services. It also empowers stakeholders from various sectors through its digital literacy program component.
To add, the center also assists employment for people with ICT-skills as it equips people with knowledge on IT enhancing their competency needed for future employment.
For his part, Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan said that facilities like Tech4Ed will further the development of the City Library as a full pledge learning resource center.
“Our plans for the improvement of our city library are now on the pipeline. This Tech4Ed facility complements our efforts as it will surely aid our constituents, especially the students and those who are on search for job opportunities,
in their scholastic and employment needs,” said Pamintuan.
“On top of the huge collection of books and other instructional materials, our city library can now offer more services and our people must take advantage of it,” the mayor added.
Also present during the launch of the Tech4Ed center are DICT Project Development Officer Mikko Rhey Alfonso, ACLIC Supervising Administrative Officer Agnes Gomez, Tech4Ed Center Manager Minette Lagman and guests from the Teen Information Office and City Tourism Office.— AC-CIO
