APALIT - At least 21 farmers from this town on Tuesday graduated from a 16-week schooling facilitated by the Municipal Agricultural Office here.

Mayor Peter Nucom, who led the turnover of certificates, said that the 21 farmers from Barangay Cansinala here are the second batch of beneficiaries of the local government-sponsored Farmers Field School (FFS).

“We conducted a seminar for them so they will have additional knowledge on farming which is their main livelihood,” he said.

Nucom explained that under FFS, the beneficia- ries underwent 16 weeks of lectures about seed selection and harvesting which is expected to be of big help in the development of their farming strategi es.

“In line with developments being undertaken by the local government, we also want every sector to grow including agriculture because a big percentage of Apalitenos depend on this sector for livelihood,” he said.

Meanwhile, the farmer-beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the local government headed by Nucom for providing continuous support to the agriculture and farming sector.

The group said that the learnings they gathered from the seminars will surely help in developing the quality of their crops while maintaining minimal capital.
