STUDENTS SAFETY BEYOND THE SCHOOL CAMPUS
NANCY S. BASILIO
Teachers worry too much about the safety and security of students while they’re under care. Should teachers still look after their students even when they’re already outside their jurisdiction?
To that, the answer is a sounding YES! The issue here has nothing to do with jurisdiction. It’s all about teachers being responsible educators truly responsible ones who will not complain about such a pretty issue as jurisdiction, in order to ensure the safety and security of children’s. Teachers as responsible educators must not limit their involvement to what happens to them while they’re inside the school campus.
Creating a caring environment is essential to protecting the welfare of children. And this caring environment should extend throughout the community!
Threats among children abound the moment they step out of school, From dangerous people to dangerous vices, from bad food, from costudents with no one there to protect them from all these threat.
As responsible and caring educators teachers and principals alike must recognize this as an opportunity for them to demonstrate what if mean to be truly caring stewards of our young. Their concern for them must not be limited by physical bounds. It goes beyond school hours. They will always find it their heart to go out of their way to ensure each child’s needs are addressed, that his safety is ensured and that he goes home safe.
