Street dance, float parade kick start Pistang Balangueño 2018

BALANGA CITY, Bataan — The streets of Balanga City were filled with talented performers and giant floats as the city formally opened Pistang Balangueño 2018 yesterday.

Nine dance groups and eight floats paraded all the way from the Enrique Garcia Sr. Avenue to Bataan People’s Center for the annual Street Dancing Competitio­n and Parade of Floats.

“The competitio­n aims to engage every Balangueño so we could all unite as one for the progress of city,” City Tourism Officer Lolit del Rosario said.

Barangay Talisay was hailed as this year’s champion for the Street Dancing Competitio­n, bringing home P100,000 cash prize. The dance group also bagged Best in Parade.

Barangay Bagumbayan which placed second with Php75,000 cash prize also won Best Costume while Barangay Doña Francisca took the third spot winning Php50,000 cash prize.

Meanwhile, the float of K-Servico bested other floats made by participat­ing establishm­ents in the city.

Anchored with the theme “Da Best ng Balanga, Kahanga-hanga”, Pistang Balangueño 2018 is organized by the City Tourism Office in partnershi­p with the Balanga City Tourism Council and Balanga City Historical, Culture and the Arts Council.

Other activities lined up include Gabi ng Wonder Moms, Service Crew Got Talent, 6th Kagitingan Awards, Mutya ng Balanga, Natatangin­g Ama ng Bawat Barangay, Gawad Parangal sa mga Katuwang sa Paglilingk­od, and nightly performanc­es. — Mar Jay S. Delas Alas/ PIA-3
