DISCIPLINE MANAGEMENT, DECOMMISSIONING
JENNIE F. VILLACRUEL
Merciful individuals hurry for conflicts among men for their self-gain. Numerous conflicts have begun and ended with elements of pettiness and inferiority. Educators have become thirsty for influence and power. What outcome have been brought up from all these? Consequently, have the students’welfare and academic standing been considered? Few educators have been observed to be having less willed and motivated individuals when it talks about the integration of behavior modification in every teaching-learning task. Several programs and projects have been initiated to have widespread influence on the community and the minds of the young learners. Yet, students (in general) have remained delinquent and lacking sufficient knowledge to even survive in outright and decent type of living.
It has been another year of battling and encompassing challenges of the Philippine educational system of the modern era. Should we have listened to what influences our young learners today? Social media statuses and tweets have conveyed an agony that children shouldn’t be forced to go to school and be drowned in forced study. Obviously, students must not be compared to a gold fish in the fish bowl which is contained in a smaller space. Are we to promote discipline rigidly while not letting our student to practice ethics and morality in a bigger arena and in the real world. As educators, we have been burdened by boggling behavior and reclusive adolescence. The question is… how much preparation have we endured to become ready for various behavior modification procedure. Have we experienced a rigorous planning of behavior modification and positive discipline that we could possibly integrate to our everyday academic endeavor that we must take in partnership with our dear clientele (the learners)?
Through intense introspection, it has been internalized that rudiments for discipline management area should be integrated in every task/ activity. How does it start then? (1) It starts with a heart, initiative and intention of developing ourselves as educators as we enrich our students’experiences and moral standards. (2) It requires careful planning among group of teachers with balance consideration of several factors such as: time-constraints, nature of school activities that might affect discipline matters and the learning environment. (3) Having an open mind for inadequacies and unpredictable outcomes. Then, we are all set. Is nurturing our students’mind our sole responsibility? Let us be inspired to nurture their hearts as well.
