The people of Lubao

-

Most people coming from Lubao town don’t just give up a fight. Lubao is the town of the Macapagals, Pinedas, Dimsons, Danans, Paules,De la Rosas, Arrastias, Lingads, Bernals, Beltrans and many other illustrious surnames. They represented the true grit of a Kapampangan. They never gave up. Remember how then former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo was bedeviled by Ex-President B.S. Noynoy Aquino?

B.S. Aquino attacked with relentless passion the person of GMA, and only was too happy to see her clipped. Aside from sending her to a hospital arrest, he heaped all the blame to his predecessor. With much grace, GMA kept her posture and sealed her lips, unlike the detained former Justice Secretary and now Senator Leila De Lima, who keeps issuing from her detention acidic statements against the present administration. The former justice secretary continued assault versus the Duterte administration can be viewed as contemptuous, and she is crying for justice. She should remember her own actions when she defied a Supreme Court order allowing GMA to seek medical attention abroad and held her at the airport.

The Capampangan women, aside from being perfect homemakers, can also function with distinction as public servants. The incumbent Governor Lilia ‘Nanay Baby’Pineda is a classic example of a housewife who both serve well the province and her family. (I have a special liking for her daughter Mylene, the present mayor of Lubao. She is such a nice and a well bred daughter. Once she saw me in a line for coffee at Starbucks, and she was persistent that she will queue for me and much later she brought the brewed drink at my table with a smile. She even paid for it. (OMG!)

To belabor the fact that mothers will do anything for their children, look how the former president move around for her son Mikey Arroyo who wants to succeed her in the second congressional district. And if Mikey will make it in 2019, half of the credit should be shared with his mommy. Btw. The last time I talked with Mikey whom I bumped at the dining hall of the Filinvest run Mimosa Country Club he was exuding confidence that he will reclaim his seat at the lower house. Influential leaders of the six towns of the district already pledged support, his aide Bingbong Lingat sai d .

Many are now figuring out if the two gentle ladies of Lubao, Gloria and Baby will take garden leaves now that their sons, Mikey and Dennis respectively, will hit the campaign trail after the October filing of certificates of candidacies(COCs). Both need to rest, many wont to say. Imagine GMA who became a hardworking and outstanding senator, then vice president to president and then nine years as member and deputy speaker of the House of Repr esent at i ves.

Nanay Baby, according to some of my colleagues at Capampangan Media Inc.(CAMI) are saying that she can be labeled as one of the best governors Pampanga ever had. Tired? That’s not in her vocabulary. She was Lubao mayor for many years and headed the province with much passion. She is everywhere and everything to many marginalized, particularly to sick people. Many people in Pampanga are now saying that the Pineda administration was a persistent nine years of responsiveness to people’s needs. Maybe they are making a comparison of the previous administrations.
