‘IF YOU WANT TO BE A TEACHER, BE HAPPY’

-

JUNE M. MALACA

Teaching is a profession where there is always a great demand for. There is always a guaranteed job in the field of education as a classroom teacher, administrator, authors, and researchers in the Philippines and abroad. Preparation is key to a successful teaching profession. Success is not something that just happens. It has to be chosen. Choosing to be professionally successful starts by choosing to be professionally diligent in your studies. Be professional even while you are still a student. Attend your classes regularly and be on time. Stop cutting classes because that is unprofessional. Complete the tasks given by your professors and always striving for excellence. Work collaboratively with your classmates because teaching demands collaboration skills. Administrators look for team players not superstars. Be grade conscious because education employers will look at your GPA on your transcript of records especially if you want to teach abroad. Join school organizations to gain experience in leadership and gain special skills. Avoid associating with gossipers, back-stabbers, and lazy students. Their disease is contagious and deadly. They will drive you away from academic success. Associate with students who are afraid to fail in class; who love their family; who are respectful of their teachers and administrators; and who fear and love God

You must choose to be happy in the teaching profession. If you are not happy then leave because our students do not deserve a teacher who is gloomy and unmotivated. Respect is something you must earn and not demand from your students. Students respect those who love and care for them. They learn best when they like their teacher. God bless you all if you have been chosen by Him to share in the profession of His Son.
