As the saying goes, “Values are caught, not taught”. How can we teachers inculcate values in this time and age which is dominated by the advancement in technology? This ever changing and fast paced technology has paved the way for the human race towards numerous challenges and opportunities.

But just like any other kind of change, it holds countless disadvantages that may even affect the attitude and behavior of young people as they grow up in this modern age.

Technology is a promising and beneficial change for humans, but people tend to abuse it, which is obviously a bad sign for the young people as they may start to depend too much on their gadgets which seem indispensable in their lives.

Humans, in their youthful days, are vulnerable and open to their environment, they may grab a bad element that they find interesting and will still hold onto it as they age, affecting their way of learning. With this reality, therefore, as the environment changes, the way of educating these young people should also change.

While keeping up with the changes and challenges of this era, there are values needed to survive in the global village. Values like honesty, respect, hard work and resiliency are some values that one must possess. An intelligent mind is nothing without a loving heart for others and a helping hand ready to extend to the less fortunate.

Modernization does not mean that what is new is good and what is old is bad. Let us use things and respect people. We must use this advancement in technology to our advantage and we must not let it be a weight on our shoul der s.
