TROUBLE THAT TROUBLES YOU

-

LOVEE JOY B. ANGELES

One of the things we should realize is that even though we are dedicated and committed as a teacher, we cannot stay that way for good because there are times that it will be tested in a way that we cannot imagine. Determining factors can be pupils, parent’s support, colleagues, principal and school environment. These are just common for us as a teacher that sometimes and worst case scenario we are being sued for criminal and administrative case. For 25 years of commitment and dedication as a teacher, with just one mistake it can cause to jeopardizing the life of our students, harsh words, hurting emotions, and disrespectful gestures will lead to our dismissal. So how can we handle trouble that troubles us? And what are these?

First, we must realize that the troubles we have right now and ahead of us that are yet to come are only temporary. Furthermore, when these troubles do come, we have to think that it is just a passing stage and will end someday. I don’t know how each one of you deal with troubles but what I am stating here is based on my personal experience and somehow I just wish that you might see the point and strategies on how to deal with troubles that troubles you.

When I say trouble that troubles me, this is the promotion of my students. No teacher dreamed of having her pupils to be retained of dropped. Helping them to be promoted from one grade level to another requires sacrifice and patience from the part of the teacher. Why does it become trouble for me? It becomes trouble for me for it sinks deep within me whenever a child is failing. When he/ she cannot cope up with the daily discussion, when he is not excelling in a specific subject, it burdens me and it becomes the trouble that I am referring to But as a seasoned teacher in handling these kind of students, diligence and religiously accomplishing the daily task for these students will help you overcome that very trouble in your mind that really troubles you. This might be very difficult to go through but we must believe in ourselves that we can be an effective teacher and that we can influence them to achieve more in life.

We should bear in mind that these things are temporary and that they are but for a moment. Just do your part, do what is needed to be done, and you’ll be amazed that the things that troubled you is not really a trouble, it’s just a challenging experience that requires your expertise and influence to these children to teach they the valuable meaning of being called, school children.
