HELPING BUILD A BETTER, MORE HOPEFUL COUNTRY

-

REMEDIOS S. CATAP

The Department of Education has high hopes that students – especially those who graduated from senior high – can help create a better, happier, and more hopeful country, whatever their chosen path may be.

Whether they chose a career in higher education, employment, entrepreneurship, or middle-level skills development, they should go out into the world and be good citizens of the country.

Their teachers and their families look forward to the time that they can create a better world for their fellow Filipinos, especially for those who did not have a chance to wear their togas.

The DepEd also reminds students of the greater responsibility that awaits them after high school. They may have fought a good fight in Senior High School, but then another fight will lies ahead of them. The DepEd, however, is confident that it has been able to equip students with skills and knowledge that they can use in facing the world outside, the world of work, or the world of the academics.

The DepEd is keen to note that the K to 12 Basic Education Program has equipped them with values, knowledge, and skills that communities, businesses, and industries need.

Students always have the right to ask and demand for quality education. Whatever their age is, whatever their gender is, whatever their choice of lifestyle is, they are entitled to quality education.

There are four exits envisioned for Senior High School (SHS) graduates – higher education, entrepreneurship, employment, or middle-level skills development. After graduation, they will become full-fledged contributors to social development and nation-building.

The K to 12 Program was crafted in close coordination with the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd), TESDA and representatives of business community. It aims to produce lifelong learners who are locally and globally competitive, and ready to pursue their desired path.
