K-12: FULL IMPLEMENTATION BY 2018

-

REMEDIOS S. CATAP

In 2012, the Department of Education made its introduction of K-12 curriculum. Teachers attended mass trainings held in the different parts of the country simultaneously. This aims to prepare them on how to go about it considering the fact that they are the frontliners in the complete implementation of the program.

Although during the first year of its implementation, it wasn’t quite a success since a lot of problems had been met like lack of classrooms, teachers and even materials to be used. On its second year, the same problems still evident but gradually the Deped had made solutions to address some of them properly. The said issues were minimized because materials for Grades 7,8,9 and 10 had been released . Hopefully, before the first products of K-12 will march on stage in 2018, these problems would have been resolved.

This school year will be the complete implementation per se of the K-12 program. How far the first graduates will go? Are there opportunities that await them? Will there be jobs available to accommodate the newly graduates ? These are just some of the questions that need to be answered. Well, we’ll see what’s in store for them just like what the government has promised.
