One of the predominant principles of leadership is manifested in a committed school head being an instructional leader who continuously updates himself in the fast shaping trends in the educational system. The school head who is at frontier is prompted to focus on total quality management in empowering the teachers in the teaching and learning process. Knowing what is happening in every classroom means effective instructional leadership. This strategic supervision empowers both the teachers and the learners. It is an avenue for school heads to propel the performance of their schools in areas where academic concerns are given all-out attention.

That is why, an instructional leader should have the know-how on the three areas of education (curriculum, instruction and assessment) which adhere to the concept of facilitative management effectively. These three academic spheres clearly exhibit profound understanding of learners, how these learners apply the concepts and principles in real life situations.

Moreover, the challenge of instructional leadership is embedded on the tasks towards the escalation of the teaching and learning process. The school head should be free from bureaucratic commission in order to become resource provider, instructional resource manager and effective communicator. The visible presence of an instructional leader becomes motivational and remarkable evident in the programs, projects and activities on instruction. This involvement in the process should be initiated to create an organized display of effective supervision to make more meaningful learning environment.
