Suspected ecstasy supplier nabbed
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - A 24 year-old man allegedly peddling Methylenedioxymethamphetamine, more known as ecstasy to partygoers in various night bars in Angeles City was arrested Tuesday dawn.
Ecstasy is identified as a psychoactive drug and is considered a synthetic hallucinogenic stimulant that usually comes in pill or tablet form. It is considered illegal to sell or take ecstasy in the Philippines and several other countries as it has potential to become an addictive drug and can cause long-term effects on the brain.
Police Regional Office III (PRO-3) Regional Director Amador Corpus identified the suspect as Anthony Ferreras, who was allegedly the supplier of ecstasy in different night clubs in the said city.
After a series of monitoring and surveillance, joint operatives of the Angeles City Police Drug Enforcement Unit and Angeles City Intelligence Branch launched a buy-bust operation at Ferreras’ residence in No. 4111-A Carlota De Leon, Barangay Sta. Teresita, Angeles City which led to his immediate arrest, Corpus said.
Confiscated from Ferreras’ possession were eleven pieces of ecstasy tablets, five brown colored and four in different colors packed in two different plastic sachets with an estimated street value of P16,500, and the P3,000 marked money used in the operation.
Ferreras will be facing charges for violation of Section 5 and 11 of RA 9165 for his possession and peddling of illegal drugs.
Corpus said that police authorities will continue to conduct intensified surveillance activities to ensure that all personalities involved in illegal activities will be apprehended.
“We continue to conduct surveillance and monitoring against our watchlisted and target listed illegal drug personalities and even those suspected of engaging in illegal drugs activities and we will not stop until we put them in jail,” Corpus said.
