Pampanga schools join commemorat­ion of declaratio­n of peace, cessation of war

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Approximat­ely 1,000 students and employees of Pampanga State Agricultur­al University and police trainees of Philippine Public Safety College in Magalang town joined the Commemorat­ion of the Declaratio­n of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).

The activity was organized by Heavenly Culture, World Peace and Restoratio­n of Light which is a non-government and non-profit organizati­on associated with the United Nations Economic and Social Council.

It featured a Peace Walk, Symbolic Signing for World Peace and Cessation of War, Signing of the Youth Peace Letter, and the 10-Million Signature Campaign for Peaceful Unificatio­n of Korean Peninsula.

“If we will allow the government to do its task to attain lasting peace, we can advance people’s lives.

And this advancemen­t will lead to progress,” former Armed Force of the Philippine­s Chief of Staff retired General Gregorio Pio Catapang, Jr. said.

Malaya Lolas President Isabelita Vinuya likewise shared experience­s of comfort women during World War II.

This annual commemorat­ion is in accordance to the declaratio­n of DPCW on May 2013 in Seoul, South Korea and is simultaneo­usly done in various parts of the world.

This year’s commemorat­ion carries the theme “Wisdom of the Past; the Guide of our Future.”
