Pampanga schools join commemoration of declaration of peace, cessation of war

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Approximately 1,000 students and employees of Pampanga State Agricultural University and police trainees of Philippine Public Safety College in Magalang town joined the Commemoration of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).

The activity was organized by Heavenly Culture, World Peace and Restoration of Light which is a non-government and non-profit organization associated with the United Nations Economic and Social Council.

It featured a Peace Walk, Symbolic Signing for World Peace and Cessation of War, Signing of the Youth Peace Letter, and the 10-Million Signature Campaign for Peaceful Unification of Korean Peninsula.

“If we will allow the government to do its task to attain lasting peace, we can advance people’s lives.

And this advancement will lead to progress,” former Armed Force of the Philippines Chief of Staff retired General Gregorio Pio Catapang, Jr. said.

Malaya Lolas President Isabelita Vinuya likewise shared experiences of comfort women during World War II.

This annual commemoration is in accordance to the declaration of DPCW on May 2013 in Seoul, South Korea and is simultaneously done in various parts of the world.

This year’s commemoration carries the theme “Wisdom of the Past; the Guide of our Future.”
