A SPLENDID RESPONSIBILITY OF AN EDUCATOR

- RONA ANDREA N. TAMAYO

Everybody is alarmed. In this fast-paced arena of achievements and success, one thing alarmed the busy people buzzing through competition of life and triumph. It’s their health and well-being. We would be highly focused on our work that we would normally fail to realize how we are treating our mind and our body; our over-all WELLNESS.

I woke up from a 4-hour sleep to jog around the community. As a teacher, I am aware that besides from work and my family responsibilities, I must do something to take care of my body and maintain my health. As I was doing my regular 2-time jogging habit in a whole week of buzz in school, I felt a push to go back home to turn on my computer. It is paper works and reports. I am still sleepy because of too much thinking last night and I couldn’t focus well on to what I am really doing.

I heard of fellow educators who also got sick. As an educator, I would love to be more energetic and healthier for my students. After a careful introspection, I came up with various ways to take care of my health despite of my intensely busy schedule:

1. Avoid a sleep-deprived lifestyle

- 7-hour of sleep would be tagged as ABUSE. I felt guilty whenever I give my body a break from the hustle and bustle of city life as I geared towards success and keeping my chin up in the workplace. One thing that I have never realized is that how sleep deprivation resulted to poor relationship with co-workers and the people around. Lack of enough sleep made me lose a little control of my temper.

2. Take MEALS and HEAL

- I usually skip a healthy meal and would prefer an unhealthy and quick fix meal and would ignore warning signs that body sends every now and then. I contemplated that I need to go a level up of my understanding of what healthy foods really are. 3. Embrace moments that MATTER to you the most

- Most of the time, I solely focus on completing work tasks that I deliberately forget about embracing time with my family as treasures of a lifetime. I strongly suggest not to neglect the most important part of our life as they contribute greatly to our wellness and sanity.

4. aHEALTHY BODY boosts a GREAT MIND

- It is our responsibility to take care our body and protect its longevity as we compete to be productive and worthy members of our nation and so am I as its catalyst.
