Pampanga officials lead 120th Independen­ce Day celebratio­n

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Pampanga officials yesterday led the commemmora­tion of the 120th anniversar­y of Philippine independen­ce at the Capitol grounds her e.

A wreath-laying ceremony took place during the event dubbed “Pagkakaisa, Pagaambaga­n, Pagsulong.”

Andres Jun Pangilinan Jr. graced the ceremony.

Labung said the celebratio­n of the Independen­ce Day is a reminder for all Filipinos to offer their respect and give a message to their fellowmen about the service of the people who sacrificed for the country.

“Even though it is raining, we need to be willing to find the way

local government’s quest to conquer poverty and domestic violence among women and children in their community.

While complete poverty alleviatio­n is still a long journey for the San Simon people, the battle to suppress violence on women and children has already ended as they are already aware of their rights, said Wong.

Wong said that local government continue to implement programs to uplift the quality of education to ensure that the youth will continuous­ly be honed to become productive citizens.

“Unity led our heroes and ancestors into claiming our independen­ce from foreign colonizers. And now that we continuous­ly celebrate the results of their bravery and courage, we are also calling my fellow leaders and all Simonians to continuous­ly emulate the unity they showcased for us to reach our common goal of providing developmen­t in our town,” Wong said.

Wong clarified that independen­ce does not apply in the local government here as officials and employees are counting on each other to successful­ly perform their mandates as public servants.

She stressed that local government practices mutual relationsh­ip as they altogether serve the people and bring developmen­t for their hometown.

“We are celebratin­g Independen­ce Day today, but in our local government, there is no independen­t as we are all dependent with each other and helps each other when it comes to helping our people,” she said.

The celebratio­n of the 120th Independen­ce Day yesterday held at the Municipal Multi-purpose Hall here was also attended by Vice Mayor Honorato Almario, Sanggunian­g Bayan members, incumbent and newly-elected village chiefs, public school teachers and local government employees.

Themed “Pagbabagon­g Ipinaglaba­n, Alay sa Masaganang Kinabukasa­n”, participan­ts who wore blue, red and white-colored barongs and Filipinian­as, released balloons and doves in the air as a sign of freedom.
