CI TY OF SAN FERNANDO— Most classes in public and private schools in some towns of Pampanga were suspended on yesterday due to bad weather caused by the habagat or southwest monsoon.

Classes in the public and private, high school and elementary levels were suspended in Porac and Floridablanca towns. Masantol, Minalin, San Simon, and Sasmuan suspended classes for all levels in the public and private schools in their respective areas.

Classes in Barangay San Esteban in Macabebe were also suspended due to flooded classrooms.

According to the state weather bureau’s advisory, monsoon rains would be experienced over Luzon and Western Visayas, particularly over the regions of Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon and Ilocos.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the southwest monsoon would also bring moderate to heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms over the said regions.

“Residents living in low lying areas and near mountainous slopes of the aforementioned areas are alerted against possible flash floods and landslides,” Pagasa said.

Pagasa also warned of scattered light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms over the rest of Luzon and Western Visayas that will prevail over the weekend.
