SENSE OF FULFILLMENT

-

ZENAIDA P. SAMSON

Teachers experience a sense of fulfilment when we are able to steer them in the right direction. We experience a sense of joy, hope, awe and purpose when under our care, our students develop skills necessary in this ever changing world.

As educators, we must always have a sense of hope and accomplishment so we can reach positive goals. We must make sure that our students work with their strengths and reach small goals so they can build confidence and eventually, accomplishment.

Teachers also need to lift their students’horizons and help them appreciate the wonder around them.

Because schools are a place where children’s behavior and success are shaped, teachers should carry a positive behavior toward their students.

The first years of school are so critical is because this is when kids shape the base of their future life. Teachers must love their careers, and through many years of training and experiences in the field, must further develop their character and talents.

Because we are our students’second parents, we must become experts in our field – not just in giving them love and care, but also respect. We must also try to form a safe and pleasant environment in school, just like at their home.

There are signs that can guide youth toward positive fulfillment. They should experience contentment and joy. People are content when their lives are going well and when they are of service to family, classmates, colleagues. There should also be joy, experiences that make us smile.

While social and emotional learning skills enable accomplishment, it follows that character steers the students’sense of direction. Character should be given as much attention as academics, civic competencies, and artistic literacy.

According to Dr. Martin Luther King, intelligence just is not enough. “Intelligence plus character— that is the goal of true education.”

Schools need to be places of inspiration where social and emotional learning and character development are engaged intentionally and as often as academics.

A teacher carries a big responsibility in her classroom because all of her students depend on her. Everything a teacher says will have a great impact on the students. Therefore, she must create a warm and protective environment .
