- SARAH G. QUIAMBAO

The new trends in technology and social media nowadays tend to make children inactive in their lives. They tend to enjoy playing computer games, watching televisions and doing social media connections rather than making themselves busy with active activities such as sports. Sports play a vital role in the life of a student. Sports can enhance the physical and social skills of young individuals.

Sports in school should be promoted for the benefit of students. It can develop young athletes especially at their young age when they are more mature and mentally develop. They can even learn values such discipline, self-confidence, and responsibility. Teachers in sports play an important role in the lives of these students while they are in school. They play as their role model whom students can admire and serve as their inspiration. When a teacher captures these admiration and inspiration, he or she can motivate these students to perform well not only in sports but also with their other subjects in school.

Moreover, sports helps students in enhancing their mental and physical growth. Together with a healthy diet and active lifestyle brings good results to students. It provides them a healthy mind and body. Students who are physically fit achieve more and academically perform well.

Sports involve interaction with other people. It promotes camaraderie and develops sense of friendliness to these young individuals. They learn to work in a team and improves their social skills. People who are socially active tends to have more confidence and ready to face any challenges in their lives.
