-

SARAH G. QUIAMBAO

“A sound mind lives in a sound body”, a saying which should not be taken for granted. Having good health is an important factor for good education. The importance of having good education is every school’s goal and mission which they provide to students. But the same importance should also be given to health education. Proper education cannot be acquired if there is no proper mind and body. This is how important that we teach students proper health, hygiene and a healthy lifestyle. In addition, it is important that every school should set proper standards of health for their students.

It is a must that a school should be aware of the health conditions of their students especially now that they are expose to a lot of junk foods and drinks in the market. Strict implementation and frequent monitoring of food that are being sold inside the school should not be taken for granted. Moreover, they should always ensure that everything that is being sold inside the school should be of good for the health of the students.

In other aspects of students’health, every public school provides feeding program and other assistance to malnourished students. But they should not only focused on these students. The same concern should also be done for those students who are obese. Obesity is not heathy as well that is why they need to push more efforts on checking the status of these students. Additional programs for students who are obese should be implemented to help them have a sound mind and body.

Health education is a foundation in achieving successful learning to students. One of the main functions of education is to develop every students to have a healthy body, an alert mind and sound emotional attitudes.
