A full year in office
NEWBIE Mayor Crisostomo Cunanan Garbo has proven to all and sundry that he deserved to be in office as the Local Chief Executive in the City of M ab al acat .
His first marching orders on July 3, 2017 were: to put the records and documents of the city government in proper order, integrity and sequence and to introduce massive changes and rectifications of those in the previous administration; to recall and safekeep all the city and put them in proper and good use; make an inventory of the city’s personnel and ascertain their worth and use vis-a-vis the current dispensation and select and hire the best and the brightest for the new administration.
Thus, his first appointments during the flag ceremony on July 3 were: Rosan Paquia as the City Administrator, Patrick Fiel Sacay as Executive Assistant and Atty. Emmanuel E. Ignacio as the City Legal Officer. Then followed the appointment of Atty. Aileen C. Rigor, CPA, as the City Accountant on whose shoulders fell the task of cleaning the proverbial Aegean stables in the accounting records, documents and procedures. A COAdriven and oriented person, Atty. Rigor forthwith introduced several changes in the Accounting procedures and recording with the end in view of straightening everything involving the financial records and documents of the city government.
Mayor Garbo next focused on the health services and benefits of his constituents: several MOAs were forged with various hospital and healthcare facilities to provide holistic care, maintenance and assistance to Mabalaquenos. He hired several consultants who are tried and tested in their respective fields of expertise.
He the proceeded to acquire service vehicles for each department of the city government, an effort no so focused on by the previous administration. He has allotted funds for the city police and fire stations in Barangay Mabiga, a site where the envisioned city government center will be situated. He aims to use the city funds frugally and effectively, observing at all times the applicable government auditing and accounting rules and regulations.
At flag ceremonies is where Mayor Garbo expresses his sentiments and observations over the city government affairs and the employees. Ever frank but not abrasive, humorous but not offensive, he declares his policies so that no one is unjustly deprived or disadvantaged, as in the case of job order contract holders. To him, everyone deserves his chance to prove himself.
Now at peace with himself and his career, Mayor Garbo looks forward to elections of 2019 where he confidently will put his achievements at stake for another dash at the mayoralty, this time a full term. Judging from the support of his old and new adherents, he is a cinch to win the race.
