CSF kicks off National Disaster Resilience Month 2018
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— The Local Government of San Fernando, through its City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), over the weekend kicked off this year’s celebration of National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) with a motorcade from Barangay Telabastagan to the downtown area in Barangay Sto. Rosar i o.
This was also participated in by the Office of Civil Defense Region 3, Provincial DRRMO, DX3 Cabalen, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Red Cross, representatives from Barangays Del Carmen, Del Rosario and Sto. Rosario and various offices of the City Government.
CDRRM Officer Raymond Del Rosario said the activity aims to raise public awareness on the importance of disaster preparedness as the NDRM 2018 theme su ggest s: “Katatagan sa Kalamidad ay Makakamtam, Kapag Sapat ang Kaalaman sa Kahandaan.”
“This is the sixth time we did the motorcade to raise awareness regarding preparedness so we thank all those who continue to support us,” he added.
Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago stressed that various activities are
lined up this month to further broaden the knowledge and capacity of Fernandinos in coping with different kinds of disasters.
“We want to empower every individual because we believe that this is the best way to create a resilient community. Disaster preparedness is everyone’s concern and responsibility,” he added. Meanwhile, after the motorcade, the city government also held a Thanksgiving Mass at the Metropolitan Cathedral as part of the kick-off program.
