BEHIND THE SHADOWS OF AN AETA DREAMER

-

JAYSON A. TORRES

One should always withstand low self-esteem to continue dreaming— this is for her, a big Yes!

Sitio Target Integrated School- Chonamel Provo, 17, envisions herself as a successful educator in her forthcoming.

As an Aeta, she apprehends that education is a way to find a virtuous profession. Her parents work as a farmer to yield vegetables and fruits to support the need of the family.

“Ya edukasyon ay miha ya paraan emên makatapos hên kabyayan buy makahawop ha tua nangen.” (Education is the only way to finish my studies and find a decent profession)

“Hila ay mananim hên gulay buy prutas taên main kay maikan buy kabyayan” (My parents work as a farmer to yield vegetables and fruits for my family)

She is also determnined to finish her studies in spite of difficulties and trials in life.

“Ahe ko sumuko ha pag-aaral. Masking hino ya lumatêng ya pagsubok ay kayañen ko… ” (I will finish my studies, I will not give up and will overcome whatever trials I will experience)

She has to walk more than 2 kilometers to school, a rock and slope terrain adds to her journey. Her parents serve as her strong inspiration to achieve her dreams in life.

“Ya inspirasyon ko ay tua ko ya bay magsikap ko taên mayari ya pamag-aral ko” (My parents are my inspiration that is why I will study hard and will finish my education)

She possesses a strong heart with a determined soul which can be an inspiration to our learners.

“Ya edukasyon ay dapat nên pagyamanin buy mahalaga ha kalupa kung kabataan. (Education should be enriched or fostered and this is very essential for the youth like me)

Through Education, one can really draw the dreams instilled and thought. For her, determination and perseverance in everything she does will help her to reach her dreams despite the problems she might encounter.

Provo, being one of the many Aetas who dream of becoming an educator really creates an impact in the educational system today. She is an image of strength to many. She serves as the voice of others, and an inspirational child that uplifts cultural understanding of the people.
