BEATING STRESS

-

LORNA Q. GARCIA

Educators are put under a lot of stress for want to provide the best education to students, and in order for them to be successful individuals in the future. Statistics show that a large number of teachers say they often feel stressed. If this is so, then how can they maintain their enthusiasm for teaching? Teachers are passionate about pursuing education to the best of their abilities, because they want their students – who are the hope of the next generation — to get quality education.

In handling stress in school, it would do well for us to be in an environment which is positive and risk-free, rather than be surrounded by hostility. Being optimistic in our tasks creates good results — and this is what everyone wants.

Now, there are ways that help prevent burnout and enhance a person’s well-being. There are instances when stress is unavoidable, but we can still thrive under it. An ideal life isn’t stress-free.

Teachers should not let anything affect the quality of education they give the children, for we do not want them to perform poorly in their endeavors. One way to make a teacher’s response to stress healthier is remembering why they chose the profession in the first place, and what motivates them to go on every single day.

As a teacher, we should think what matters most whenever we feel discouraged. This can bring out our best and may help us to connect with colleagues, all the while keeping our stress levels in check.

Let us set our minds to a goal, set aside our worries and never be preoccupied with petty things. Let’s come to school prepared for the day ahead. Everything negative will have a direct effect on our performance. What good would it do to be an inefficient teacher?
