-

JENALYN P. HIPOLITO

Educators face a great deal of challenge every day. It is dealing with students with varied personalities, dispositions and attitudes. This would be one of the great challenges a teacher has to surpass each day to successfully take on optimum delivery of instruction. Students display varied characteristics inside the classroom. There are moments we may encounter active response from classroom undertakings while some are too reserved to express themselves.

There will be moments of failure of instruction if students are too shy and timid when asked to participate in the class either individually or in a group. This entails teachers looking for ways for students to develop their personality in the classroom. In such manner, teachers are braved to conduct activities or find ways to promote personality development in the classroom.

School is not just about acquiring knowledge and developing competencies; it is also a place where a foundation can be built for becoming great individuals. Every school should promote an ambiance of respect, honesty and genuine kindness for all students. In this aspect, teachers are role models for students and can provide examples of good character every day in the classroom. There are ways to hone personality of students while imparting knowledge to them.

Be an Aid. Teachers would be the students’second parents. With such responsibility, teachers must know their students well to take the right lead of developing personality. For the personality development among students it is usually studying well correlates for studying their own character. Knowing their talents as well as shortcomings will give the teachers an insight into problem areas that are hindering with the process of personality development. In this aspect, teachers guide and aid learners to build more confidence, develop more their strengths in the classroom and address academic needs of learners.

Set The Rules. This is an important rule to follow when it comes to shaping your students’personality is to set down a list of rules. Establish a healthy communication system with your students. This will help strengthen the student-teacher bond you share. Giving your students attention is probably one of the golden rules of effective teaching-it always works wonders. Listen to your students’concerns. This will give them a sense of importance and boost his confidence and strength.

Appreciate rather than Punish. A student is motivated to learn new things if there is an opportunity to gain incentives or just appreciation. Appreciation is a great way of expressing gratitude or acknowledging the efforts of another person in a positive light. If mistakes are done, better if we correct them in a very constructive and light way rather than inflict punishments. In here, students are then motivated to excel more removing the fear of doubt and disbelief.

With such activities for personality development, students build a more positive approach to learning and in return teachers become more effective and efficient if learning new skills and knowledge is coupled with the development of one self.
