THE JOURNEY OF A STUDENTS

-

MYLENE T. DIZON

Studying is like a journey, a travel, in which there are different kinds of passengers. Some passengers enjoy the comfort of their seats while watching the view along the way. Some passengers fall asleep while having the trip. Some are enjoying their gadgets, some are listening to music, and some are playing. There are also passengers who go down the vehicle at a terminal and some finish the trip and goes down at their destination.

In this present world, where technological advancement has exploded in every aspect of life, where finding a job is a survival of the fittest, it is a requirement that you have to be ready and competitive to be able to survive. The school is a perfect venue for this preparation, preparation to face life’s challenges.

Do not be like the travellers who fall asleep for you will miss the beauty of the view along the way, instead enjoy watching it. Learn from the things that you passed by for experiences are the best teachers. Enjoy doing things that make you happy, but don’t forget that sacrifice comes before success. Extreme poverty and family problems may make you not finish your studies and stop at a terminal, but that does not mean it is the end of the journey. You may continue your travel by means of your feet, remember, a journey to a thousand miles begins with a single step. You may not become what you dream of, but be the best of whatever you are. If you are a janitor, be the best janitor that you can be. If you are a farmer, be the best farmer. If you are a teacher, be the best teacher. If you are a manager, be the best manager that you can be.

On the other hand, blessed are those who stay on the vehicle and finish their journey. They are the best examples of hope and positivity. It is true that life is filled with challenges and difficulties and the best way to survive is to keep on hoping. Man can live about 40 days without food. He can live about 3 days without water, about 8 minutes without air, but he can only live one second without hope. So hold on to your dreams hoping that in God’s perfect time, you will achieve success. Do not be pressured by your environment. Set your own clock and time for it is only you who can create a life that is meaningful and purposeful enough to inspire the lives of others. And that is the true meaning of success.
