DOLE holds career guidance coaching for 2,000 Tarlac high school students

The seminar intended for graduating high school students was initiated by the Local Government of Bamban, through its Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and DOLE Tarlac Field Office.

DOLE Regional Director Zenaida Cangara-Campita reported to Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III that the participan­ts was comprised of students from grades 10 and 12.

“At the wake of our country’s K – 12 program implementa­tion, the DOLE continues to provide the country’s latest trends and updates on Labor Market Informatio­n through its career guidance coaching seminars to enable our incoming senior high school students choose the right Applied Track Subjects to make them workready after high school and for those who will continue pursuing a college degree,” Campita explained.

The half-day seminar held in Bamban town was held in San Roque National High School in the morning and Dapdap High School in the afternoon.

Labor and Employment Officer Jumel Vitao presented the labor agency’s Project Jobsfit 2017 – 2022 Summary Report highlighti­ng the region’s Key Employment Generators (KEGs), Industry Developmen­ts, and Emerging Industries.

In his presentati­on, Vitao discussed Critical Skills across industries that will be in-demand by new industries investing in the region within the next few years.

Vitao also underscore­d the job generation brought by new developmen­ts in the region such as the expansion of Clark Internatio­nal Airport and rise of Clark Gateway City.

Bamban PESO Manager Teresita Ronquillo, for her part, discussed various employment facilitati­on, youth, and livelihood programs jointly implemente­d by the DOLE and PESO.

Ronquillo highlighte­d the Special Programs for the Employment of Students (SPES), Special Recruitmen­t Activity (SRA), and DOLE integrated livelihood and emergency employment programs, among others.

DOLE Tarlac Field Office head Aurita Laxamana said that their office focused providing career guidance coaching seminars to grade 10 students based on the Department of Education’s recommenda­tion.

“One important goal of the K -12 program is to make our high school graduates work-ready after finishing their education at the secondary level. Our career guidance coaching seminars will provide them the necessary informatio­n to help them decide which track courses will suit their chosen careers,” Laxamana said.
