P150-M water facility to rise in Arayat town

ANGELES CITY — A water treatment facility using surface water will be constructe­d along the Pampanga River in Barangay Camba, Arayat town.

The P150-million water treatment plant will be undertaken by the Balibago Waterworks System Incorporat­ed (BWSI) in cooperatio­n with the local government

Arayat.

Town leaders, led by Mayor Emmanuel “Bon” Alejandrin­o and Vice-Mayor Ramon Changcoco thanked the BWSI under the leadership of the firm’s

president, Cristino L. Panlilio and senior vicepresid­ent, Cristina Isabelle Panlilio Alejandro.

Panlilio said that the Arayat Water Treatment Plant is the first project in Central and Northern Luzon that will employ surface water filtration syst em .

“We will not use ground water to provide safe and potable water. This is going to be the way of the future that we will no longer depend on ground water,” Panlilio said.

“In Central Luzon, this is the first time that a major project worth P150 million will be invested [by our company] for the benefit and interest of the residents,” he added.

The facility is expected to provide sufficient water supply to the people of Arayat, according to Panlilio.

Alejandro described the Arayat Water Treatment Plant as BWSI’s “very special project and represents a work of a community.”

She lauded the support of the town officials including Alejandrin­o and the city councilors to the pr oject .

Alejandro also hailed his father, Panlilio, for initiating the project. “And our president of course, this is really his initiative. Pet project and dream project niya talaga ito.”

She also thanked the BWSI team for their cooperatio­n and effort in the realizatio­n of the project.

The town mayor, for his part, said that he was inspired by the laws which protect the environmen­t in other countries like the United States of Amer i ca.

After visiting the US few years ago, Alejandrin­o said he offered the BWSI a property along the Pampanga River where the surface water plant will be erected.

He thanked the BWSI for continuing its services and commitment to provide sufficient water supply to the people of Arayat.

Changcoco meanwhile said the water treatment plant will service at least seven barangays in the town including Camba, Candating, Batasan, Suklayin, Santo Nino Tubuan, San Mateo, and Mapalad.

The vice-mayor described as environmen­t-friendly the water facility which he said will provide safe and potable water for the people of Arayat.

“We know that water is life and the most basic need of people. This water treatment facility is a very much welcome developmen­t,” Changcoco said.

“We thank Balibago Waterworks because the dream of our kabalens across the river to have safe and potable water supply will soon be realized,” he added.
