CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - In line with continuous aim to uplift the level of education for Fernandino youth, the city government here on Monday recognized the roles of child development workers in the city’s Early Child Care Development (ECCD) program.

According to City Social Welfare Development Office ( CSWDO) Head Aileen Villanueva, the city government ensures the strict implementation of the Early Years Act of 2013 which strengthens the state’s focus in building a strong foundation for the development and learning of children during their early year s.

Realizing the benefit of educating children during their formative years and the high investment returns it yields, Villanueva said that the sustained development of ECCD program has been one of the top priority of the city government through the administration of Mayor Edwin Santiago.

“Mayor Edwin Santiago sees the importance of molding the children as early as three years old and we credit to him the continuous development in the delivery of ECCD to Fernandino children. Under ECCD, children are given knowledge, skills and values classes to ensure that they are ready to join and go to formal school,” she added.

And to further boost the delivery of formative education to children, the city government hailed the outstanding child development workers dubbed “facilitators of child development” and “parent-mentors.”

Included in the Top 12 list of outstanding child development workers are Rizalda Quiambao, Lichelle Razon, Annalee Nucup, Jacklyn Bando, Lyndynor Cambonero, Nerhissa Tayag, Jennt Quiambao, Alicia Dungca, Susan Pantig and Emely Manalo, who all showcased maximum efforts in performing their roles in various departments of ECCD.

“We recognize and highlight the role of our child development teachers and workers because we believe their duties are not easy to carry.

And so, to motivate and inspire our child development workers to effectively assume such roles in the community, we are giving them proper time to be recognized,” she said.

Santiago, for his part, expressed his gratitude to the ECCD workers for not only fulfilling their roles, but showed exemplary efforts in molding Fernandino children and imparting to them the values and culture of San Fernando.

“It is publicly known that education is a top priority in San Fernando and our ECCD workers play a big role to ensure that as early as three years old, Fernandino children are already trained to better serve their roles in the community,” he said.
