SCHOOL HEADS AS AGENTS OF PEOPLE CENTERED DEVELOPMENT

- MELISSA M. DELA CRUZ

The success of every student relies on how school administrators manage and supervise the learning inside and outside the school in cooperation with the community in particular and the nation in general. School heads observe and lead each institution to attain the DepEd’s Vision and Mission.

Designing and implementing strategy fitted to solve social and educational issues may result in better and systematic way in which the benefit for the students is always given top priority. School heads promote a safe and conflictfree environment for learning. It is one way to manifest students’ good values formation, acceptable behavior, responsible citizens, productive individuals and better leaders of their generation. It is not an easy task to develop every student to be morally upright and law abiding citizens without the help of other stakeholders and partners of every school. It is the student who is placed at the center for development.

Therefore, school heads and other administrators are responsible for their development. To be an agent of change and good will, it must start within oneself. School heads serve as a role models to their teachers and definitely to the students.

Respecting others, caring for fellow workers, securing the safety of everyone, and improving the performance both academics and non are not solely responsibility of a school head, it is a joint effort of every stakeholders including the community. It is just that the school head or the principal lead each step towards success of the students.
