DAILY LESSON LOGS

-

MARIVIC N. CORTEZ

The Great Aristotle once said, “Educating the mind without educating the heart is not education at all.” If you are reading this today and if you are part of the academe, it is a time of self-reflection.

Recalling our past life, when we decided to choose the teaching path, what were the changes it brought us in our lives? In the lives of the youngsters that we had met. If you are still part of the Educational system, what are our present motivation to still fight for the journey?

Public school teaching is never a bed of roses so to speak. And at present, the challenge that is being laid upon each of us is never ending and of course never that easy. Along the journey we are witnessing some of our co-workers are giving up because of too much pressures and we are being bombarded with tons of paper works.

Find it in your heart to listen to what it will tell you. I tell you, we have the same experiences and the same dealings with the youngsters. But, in this difficult times, let us find the courage to prove that what Aristotle said to be genuine.

Let us not focus on the financial rewards that teaching is offering us. But God’s message to us to be his servant-leaders that our willing to spread the good salvation through our students. Let us start making our Daily Lesson Logs of memories worth putting in our “Item Banks of Positivity.” If we feel like giving up, think of the times you took the time to have your Home Visitation to one of your students, and after being able to know their family background, you had motivated that child to go back to school and later on was able to uplift their family… Go back… reminiscing the past moments with your students, now, professionals like you, or better yet, young once but now your Co-workers as teachers too. Be Inspired that you had touched lives and you will forever touch lives.

Have your journal of “POSITIVE” learning along your journey… Remember that you are a Survivor of different storms and that the pressures you are having right now are just like seeds that someday will sprout as Fruits of Life for I know, that in those Young Hearts you have touched, Education had served it purposed because you had listen with the EAR of your HEART. God is your silent witness. I am sure that He is proud of you and he will tell you with a smiling face, “Thank You for being a Teacher!”
