FULFILLING DREAMS OF A LIFETIME THROUGH EDUCATION
PERLITA B. TARUC
The opportunity came just in the perfect time!
The gift of knowledge encapsulates the long time prayer that my family wishes me to have when I finally decided to pursue a degree in education. In point of verity, it is genuinely my immense passion since child how my family valued the importance of education and its core. This is probably the very reason of embarking with this challenging course for it suits my likes and interests not only as a future practicing professional but also as a contributing member of the community that would later lead them to an educated environment. This happens purely through leadership by example. As what Gardner decl ar es:
Leadership is the process of persuasion or example by which an individual induces a group to pursue objectives held by the leaders or shared by the leader and his or her followers (cited in The Educator Magazine, June 2005, p 22).
This assertion constitutes the pioneering character of an individual to successfully relate with his members. There are desirable traits that a leader must possess to generate leadership capacity. Being consultative in brain storming, employing freedom of expression in a forum, and addressing individual differences in an outreach activity are much needed qualities to achieve the desired goals of enhancing leadership capacity and establish a cordial relationship among them. In this extent, it only added congruence of valuing their contributions in the group, and likewise provided them venue and opportunity to be trained as future leaders as well. This connecting instance made me joined reputable groups who are extending charitable works in the community.
It is with great pleasure that I have supported the government programs in our community to give paramount value to our culture and tradition as Filipinos. The scantiest participation though by assisting in the government projects made me continue to dream big and well determined to help because of the actual scenario witnessed every time I see the increasing needs of my community in terms of services in the field of education. From simple Sunday school program and youth empowerment for out of school youth needed much focus on realizing such intention to help. In such a way, I have learned the real essence of charity.
This learning experience is solely a launch pad in determining greater challenges in my post as a TEACHER. I know that this may seem difficult with the impediments along the way but with enormous courage and reliance, this continual journey of responsibility and hard work would be overcome for I have sustained to keep the FAITH in this long struggle. And my utmost respect to human life and gender equality spells what education is. Hence, with immense certainty, this would be rewarded at the end for it is indeed an answered prayer of a dream in a lifetime – To Be A TEACHER!
