I remembered some insights I had gained from my past experience. Being a teacher requires a lot of patience because you are dealing with students who have different environment. Whenever I entered the classroom, there are some group of students who are unruly. They created noise that distracted other classes. The frustration level is very high because it was really a failure knowing that I am also a teacher. Until I realized that why not apply Positive discipline.

Why do we need to embrace positive discipline? Personally, I care about what others think of me. I don’t want to be seen as someone who doesn’t know what he or she is doing. I really worked hard and applied this to my class. I deepen by relationship and have found out their sentiments. And all I can say is that “their anger is just an emotional reaction to the situation and it needs justice. Justice in the sense that it needs response to what is right and to correct what is wrong. I need to be positive. There is really a need to talk to them privately and tell every details of their actions than reprimanding them on that moment. They work on a more controlled way, and when they are used to it, it is just a matter of reminder to them. I can say that much of my work goes pretty well. But whenever I face the challenges and things don’t go well according to my plans, I just go back to the details and analyze again the situation. During our lessons, I lay my guidelines to ensure that they fully understand what I expect from them. And unknowingly, I am making constructive criticism to correct their behavior. And I explained to them, that if they are low in performance, they are not only hurting me, but they are also hurting themselves. And I began to give recognitions on their performance and giving them some rewards of their hard work, and offered them some tips on how to increase their productivity.

What I did is just gave them positive reinforcements that will inspire and motivate them to work harder. I told myself that I need to set goals to foster appropriate behavior to maintain a “happy school workplace”. I don’t need students who obey every command, rather the one who strives to be better and understand every situation.
