CONTINUING EDUCATION: A CHALLENGE TO EVERYONE

-

REA S. SERRANO

An educated person never stops learning. Thus the quotation says “Education is a continuous process”.

Good teachers become great teachers by going beyond the call of duty and beyond the scope of textbooks. To do this, a teacher must continue her education.

Teachers can enroll in post graduate studies to earn a degree or units which can help in their promotion. There are also some institutions that give help and assistance to teachers who wish to continue their education like TESDA and Technology and Livelihood Training Center where teachers can earn their NCII. There are also conferences and seminars that could give the teacher that extra help in using the technology for ICT based instruction.

Administrators should encourage their teachers to pursue post graduate studies as well as make opportunities available for them to do so.

As I had finished my post graduate studies, I realized my goal as an educator: to impart a passion for education within the classroom. I expect to provide an environment that is encouraging and positive. I possess learning competencies which are necessary to foster the skills and talents of each learner. Once the students have moved on, they will remember me as a teacher who was genuinely concerned to them and to their wellbeing. Once I have moved on, my peers will remember me as a professional who was eager to help develop the school community and was always eager to teach and inspire the children.
