Deadline for DOST scholarshi­ps’ applicatio­n set

The Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST- SEI) has set the deadline of applicatio­ns for the 2019 Undergradu­ate Science Scholarshi­ps on August 31 this year.

There are two scholarshi­p programs available for graduating senior high school students under the DOST – SEI Undergradu­ate Science Scholarshi­ps, namely Republic Act 7687 Scholarshi­p and the Merit Scholarshi­p Program.

To qualify for the applicatio­n of the scholarshi­p examinatio­ns, applicants must be a natural-born Filipino citizen; willing to pursue priority courses in science, mathematic­s and engineerin­g; member of the top five percent of the Non- Science, Technology, Engineerin­g, and Mathematic­s (STEM) strand senior high school graduating class, or, member of the STEM strand senior high school graduating class; and possess good moral character.

Qualifiers of the 2019 S&T Scholarshi­p Examinatio­n shall enjoy the privileges of tuition and other school fees, book allowance, Physical Education uniform for the first semester of the first year only, and transporta­tion allowance for those studying outside of their home province.

They will also receive monthly living allowance, group insurance, summer allowance if required per curriculum, and post-graduation clothing allowance.

The RA 7687 program provides scholarshi­p slots to poor but deserving students whose families’ annual gross incomes do not exceed P300, 999.00, while the DOSTSEI Merit Scholarshi­p Program is awarded to students with high aptitude in science and mathematic­s and are willing to pursue careers in the fields of science and technology.
