BRINGING BACK THE GLORY

-

MARRIECHU C. CANLAS

Few decades ago, Philippines was categorized as a “Tiger Economy”. I was so proud to hear about it. But then I asked myself, what made our economy lost its glory? The tiger is now a cat I should say.

This made me reflect on how the early Filipinos managed to uplift our economy and were able to maintain good image to the whole Southeast Asia. That time life was so simple. You can live happily with the simple things you have as what my parents usually say. It is ironic because back then, they live simply but our economy soar high compare to the others.

As time goes by, things have changed. Filipinos have changed the way they live their lives. Lifestyle became more like of the Western. People don’t easily get contented with life. We became more focus on ourselves on how to develop ourselves. But who can blame us? This world is so demanding! Living in this generation demands a lot from us. The society dictates how we should live, how we should look and even how to behave in a manner acceptable to everyone.

People development is very crucial into making a good society and builds a strong nation. The Philippines is categorized now as a developing country or also known as Third World Country. How can we help in order to make it as a developed country? There are many ways. One way is to continuously develop our own life. Good citizen must adhere to the goal of its motherland.
