-

Choosing the teachers in the public school requires a toilsome process to get the best possible and available options that will provide the quality education among our learners. The process includes submission of pertinent of documents, interview, demonstration teaching and others. If these things are done on teacher position, what more on school head positions.

The National Educators Academy of the Philippines together with the Department of Education requires all the principal aspirants to past the National Qualification Examination for School Heads, which is commonly known as Principal’s Exam. The passers will have the chance to apply for the position of principal of public elementary and secondary schools.

Before the exam, certain years of experience are needed depending on the current position of the applicants of the NQESH. Even before the test, those who are applying for the test already need to have trainings related to management and leadership. Thus, this denotes that the requirements for the principal position are stricter compared with the teacher. It is necessary because the person who will lead the entire educational institution should have qualification that is higher than the teachers.

After the exam, the applicants will undergo the rigorous process of selection through submission of pertinent documents and interview. Those who will meet the standard based on the requirement of the DepEd will be given a position to handle a school.

In the end, NQESH becomes the passport of the teachers to have a principal position in the DepEd. With this, it implies that NQESH selects the principal.
