Arjo Atayde's ‘Buybust’

-

I think Buybust is the greatest action movie ever produced this year, local cinema. Especially with the surprise appearance of the the movies top villain - Arjo Atayde.

"I also have the same question... good vibes na lang po palagi," Xian Lim tweets after not being seen in the promo rounds for the movie Miss Granny in ABS-CBN.

Fans have been wondering why Xian wasn't included in the said promotional tour.

Only Sarah Geronimo and James Reid guested in "It's showtime". Both also taped their guesting in "Gandang Gabi, Vice.”

Even Xian wonders why he was not informed for the guesting.

A fan of Xian expressed her disapproval why Xian and Nova Villa wasn't present for the promo of Pinoy adaptation of the Korean movie "Miss Granny".

“I would be more than happy to promote. I’m just waiting for an advice. Maybe the shows do not approve. I really don’t know." says Xian.

Another fan tweeted that she wants to see Xian in the promo rounds on TV.

Xian jokingly replied...“I want to see me too. I really don’t know what the problem is...”

This week, Xian is scheduled to promote on some malls. Xian is a former Star magic Artist and moved to Viva Artists Agency this January, 2018. However, it’s not yet clear if Xian has already left ABS-CBN, because until now the actor has no project yet.

Arjo's acting skills was superb. His acting was far from his iconic “Joaquin” character in primetime TV’s FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. Arjo's monologue was the highlight of the movie.

Buybust was chosen as the closing film at the New York Asian Film Festival. The film also had its Canadian premiere in the Fantasia Festival and Asian premiere in the Buncheon International Fantastic Film Festival last July 18.

In his interview Arjo said it took him two hours for his makeup alone.

"Yes, Tito!2 hours ang make up ko. I had to look like na parang albino,e.Tapos ang daming pataong ng make up. Ang hirap kasi medyo makati siya ng konti. But then, I really had to sacrifice kasi iba talaga ang role ko dito.”

It took Buybust 2 years to finish the film. How was the filming?

"Opo, tito. Two years siyang kinunan. Kasi mahirap dun sa place,e. Talagang the scenes where taken in the slums. So, ang daming tao and they had to fix the crowd. Pero yung shoot namin it took us only 4 days.Tapos yung 4 days na yon, the shots were taken in different angles. May scene na 8 times kukunan. So, talagang ang hirap. Bawat take, I had to speak the lines, e, ang haba nung dialogue ko,e.”

How would he compare his role in buybust with his kontrabida role in Ang Probinsyano?

"It's far different from my role as Joaquin in Ang Probinsyano. Kasi duon ang dami naming kontrabida. Dito ako ang head ng syndicate. Talagang sa akin nakacenter yung istorya.”

We were told that the Star Magic artist was previously encouraged to try it out in the Hollywood scene.

"Yes, po tito.May mga nag-e-encourage sa akin. But as of now, wala pa naman sa isip ko yun,e. I know na marami pa akong dapat matutunan. Iba naman kasi sa Hollywood, e. Mas grabe ang discipline ng mga artista dun.”

As of the moment, what we do know is that Arjo’s performance and the film as a whole have already been getting positive feedback. In fact, his acting prowess was once recognized by renowned acting coach Ivana Chubbuck herself. Who knows, this movie role might lead to bigger things for our greatest villain in his generation.
