PASSION AND COMPASSION

- ELAINE L. CORDERO

Passion makes us enjoy our work. Compassion helps us see the meaning of what we do.

These two are the best ingredient a teacher must have in order to function to his or her best. Teaching presents various challenges and only the called to be in the profession will mostly stay in a long period. A teacher must be equipped with innate intent to make a difference despite the undeniable rocks and zigzag of the journey.

Passion and compassion cannot be taught to the educators. It is who they were before they entered the profession. It is who they are when up to now. Passion and compassion cannot be also be faked. It radiates the reality the way the teacher approaches the pupils and presents the lesson.

To everyone who has his or her heart full of passion and compassion for learning and learners, continue igniting the love in your heart and the dedication to do more than what you are called to do. Continue running an extra mile to touch young lives and help them build themselves into someone better.

To those who are still on the crossroads thinking if teaching is for them and to those who feel like mediocrity is enough, it is time to wake yourself up. It will really be difficult to live your life doing the things you do not love.

If you want to be successful in your field, love what you do.

If you want to make a difference, find meaning to what you do.

If you put passion and compassion to what you do now, you will gradually see the huge positive outcome in your work and career.
