MARKETING IN A MILLENNIAL WAY

- RODOLFO L. ORDONIO II

More and more businessmen are realizing the importance of keeping abreast with innovations in this field. Internet marketing aims to reach the target demographics in a medium that is at the heart of millions or even billions of consumers worldwide. Alan Charlesworth defines Internet Marketing as the type of marketing that “ties together the creative and technical aspects of the Internet, including design, development, advertising, marketing, content marketing, mobile advertising and Web 2.0 strategies.”

Most probably one of the highlights of the 21st century, internet marketing comes in many forms. Online marketing appears on email, videos, and social media. Another type is the Search Engine Optimization (SEO), which helps increase the ranking of a website.

Say, a consumer searches online for a beauty product or treatment. He/she will type “affordable beauty treatment” in the Google search bar or whatever search engine used. In order for a specific website to get higher chances of being chosen by the consumer, online marketing agencies perform necessary tweaking on the website and other activities aimed at increasing the popularity of the product or service in the online world.

They say consumers searching online are most likely to choose from the websites listed in the first search engine results page. That’s why it is important to always stay on top of the list.

Internet marketing, from what I can observe in my dealings with our clients, can be seen as supplementary form of marketing. What is published in print or heard in radio, or seen in TV, movies and other audiovisual outputs are usually published over the Internet. One obvious reason for this is the target customers’ use several media in their everyday life; marketers want to maximize all available means to reach, persuade, and retain a bulk of the market share.
