USING TECHNOLOGY AS A LEARNING TOOL, NOT JUST THE COOL NEW THING
Technology is everywhere- entwined in almost every part of our culture. It affects how we live, work, play and most importantly learn. With mobile and other technological devices becoming an increasing requirement across every industry today, it only makes sense that our schools are also effectively deploying mobile technology in the classroom. However, for many schools especially public schools, implementing the latest technology is a difficult strategy to navigate.
Indeed we now live in a modern and an advance society. But are those inventions consistently good? A large number of people are using cellphones and they are all agree that these techno gadgets have made an impact in our lives bringing us closer even if we don’t step out of our homes.
However, these aspects of technology are negated with its ill effects. Students are now hooked to violent computer games. They cut classes and waste their allowance on computer games. It’s amazing how young people can spend so much time in front of the computer, playing, browsing or surfing Facebook accounts for hours. Many students lose their interest in their studies because they have prioritized these stuffs- computers, cellphones, tablets and ipods. And what do they get in return? Poor grades!
Technology is good, but it depends on how we use it. Technology should be the solution to our problems not the cause of problems.
