SM supports communities through medical mission
OLONGAPO CITY— SM Foundation, Inc., through SM City Olongapo recently conducted a free medical, dental and diagnostics mission at the mall for 1,379 patients.
Dubbed as “Gamot Para sa Kapwa”, SM Foundation provided services such as medical checkup , dental check up, blood pressure checkup, urine test, ECG, X-ray, eye check-up with free reading glasses and laboratory tests. Aside from the medical services, free medicines for common illnesses and vitamins were also distributed to patients as prescribed by doctors.
The medical and dental mission was headed by SM Foundation Senior Project Manager Dr. Blessie Bertos
Security Bank officers, together with its partners from the local government and educational institutions in Olongapo, formally opened the new classroom building in Gordon Heights I Elementary School. in partnership with the City Health Office, City Social Welfare and Development Office, Barangay Pagasa, Olongapo City Police Office, Philippine Red Cross Olongapo Chapter, James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital, Olongapo City Medical Society, Philippine Dental Association Olongapo Chapter, Parks and Plazas Management Office, Ideal Vision, SM Supermarket and John Graphic Image. It aimed at helping less fortunate indigent families by providing basic health services and positive insights in coping with difficulties in life.
“Gamot Para sa Kapwa” is a yearly activity in all provincial malls and its barangay health center counterpart, the Felicidad T. Sy Wellness Center.
Prior to the mission SM Foundation Operation Tulong Express(OPTE) extended help to provinces affected by Habagat particularly in Dinalupihan, Bataan where thousands families lost their properties and submerged in water due to uninterrupted rains.
